Dinophysis spp. PCR detection Kit allows the detection of DNA from the dinoflagellates Dinophysis species by end-point PCR.
Dinophysis spp. PCR detection Kit
Description
Dinophysis is one genera responsible for Diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP), a global illness with incidences of outbreak or high toxicity occurring worldwide. Okadaic acid and dinophysistoxins, produced by Dinophysis spp., can accumulate in filter-feeders, such as bivalve shellfish, and adversely affect human health and marine life. The kit contains reagents and enzyme for the specific amplification of two target sequences: a 366 bp region of the Dinophysis genome and an internal control of 214 bp, which allows for the evaluation of any PCR inhibitors. Common applications: for epidemiological studies and for the identification of infections caused by Dinophysis species in fish; for studies regarding the toxicity and potential impacts of Dinophysis species to marine life and human health, in order to mitigate the high economic losses of fish farmers, or for a better understanding of Dinophysis species biology.
