Alexandrium spp. PCR detection Kit allows the detection of DNA from the dinoflagellates Alexandrium species by end-point PCR.
Alexandrium spp. PCR detection Kit
Description
The Genus Alexandrium is a widespread dinoflagellate marine phytoplankton that is the primary causative organism causing Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) intoxications in humans and other mammals. The kit contains reagents and enzyme for the specific amplification of two target sequences: a 135 bp region of the Alexandrium 5.8S rDNA and an internal control of 217 bp, which allows for the evaluation of any PCR inhibitors. Common applications: epidemiological studies and identification of infections caused by Alexandrium species in fish; studies regarding bacterial fish pathogens, in order to mitigate the high economic losses of fish farmers, or for a better understanding of Alexandrium spp. biology.
