Over the past months,  our team had the opportunity to attend three of the European biotech landscape’s most vibrant events:: Swiss Biotech Day in Basel, CDMO LIVE in Rotterdam, and BOS Basel.

The industry spoke with a unified voice. Beyond the networking, these events revealed a fundamental shift in what biotech innovators need from their development and manufacturing partners. Here are the core insights we brought home.

Insight 1 (from Swiss Biotech Day):  Agility is No Longer a Buzzword—It’s the Core Demand.

At the Congress Center Basel, the message was unmistakable: the era of rigid, one-size-fits-all processes is over. What stood out this year was a clear emphasis on the need for agile CDMO partners who can master small-scale clinical batches and execute flawless tech transfer with both precision and speed. Conversations around regulatory alignment, production scalability, and R&D support sparked new ideas and reinforced how crucial it is to integrate services across the all chain.

Insight 2 (from CDMO LIVE):  True Integration Requires More Than Technical Skill.

In Rotterdam, the focus shifted from what is done to how it’s done. CDMO LIVE 2025 brought together diverse voices across the outsourcing and biotech value chain. One thing became evident: technical capabilities alone are not enough. The key differentiator are adaptability, proactive communication and genuine collaboration  The best outcomes arise when a CDMO acts as an extension of the client’s team, co-developing solutions and adapting openly to challenges as they arise.

Insight 3 (from BOS Basel):  The Search is for a Partner, Not a Supplier.

Back in Basel, BOS crystallized the ultimate theme: the transactional supplier model is becoming obsolete. Many companies are actively seeking a long-term, , strategic partners who can provide continuity across the entire biologics development pathway— from cell banking and process development to GMP production and sterile fill & finish.

It is about building trust and ensuring that expertise and flexibility,  are available at every critical stage.

What We Brought Home: Turning Insights into Action

Across all three events, one theme emerged: being a world-class CDMO today means being more than a simple service provider  It requires a commitment to three pillars:

  • Agile Execution: Delivering tailor-made solutions with speed and precision.
  • Integrated Collaboration: Acting as a true partner through open communication.
  • End-to-End Reliability: Offering seamless support throughout at every stage.

We returned with a deeper understanding of our clients’ evolving needs and a reinforced commitment to being the partner our industry demands in ways that are both scientifically sound and operationally meaningful.
